EcoCeres and Viva Energy Join Forces to Accelerate SAF Adoption in Australia

EcoCeres announced that it will supply sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to Viva Energy Australia (Viva Energy) for storage and distribution through Viva Energy’s Pinkenba fuel terminal in Brisbane, Queensland.

Hong Kong – 10 July 2026 – EcoCeres, a global leader in the innovation and commercialization of renewable fuels and green molecules, announced that it will supply sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to Viva Energy Australia (Viva Energy), one of Australia’s leading energy companies, for storage and distribution through Viva Energy’s Pinkenba fuel terminal in Brisbane, Queensland.

Under the agreement, EcoCeres’ SAF will be delivered to Viva Energy’s Pinkenba facility, which has recently been upgraded to store, blend and handle SAF alongside conventional jet fuel. From Pinkenba, Viva Energy will be able to supply blended SAF to its aviation customers, supporting the development of a lower‑carbon fuel supply chain for the Australian aviation market.

EcoCeres produces SAF from 100% waste‑based feedstocks, such as used cooking oil and other waste lipids, which can deliver significant lifecycle greenhouse‑gas emissions reductions of up to 94.4% compared with conventional jet fuel. Viva Energy’s Pinkenba SAF infrastructure project, supported by funding from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), has been designed to demonstrate the delivery of SAF through existing fuel supply infrastructure to Brisbane Airport and beyond.

Matti Lievonen, CEO of EcoCeres said: “Partnering with Viva Energy to further expand the availability of our SAF in the Australian market is an important milestone in EcoCeres’ growth journey and in the broader decarbonization of aviation in this region. By supplying SAF to Viva Energy, we are able to connect our production capabilities with established storage and distribution infrastructure, helping airlines access low‑carbon fuel at scale through familiar supply chains.” He added, “Australia is a key growth market for sustainable fuels, and we look forward to working with Viva Energy and its customers to turn net‑zero ambitions into concrete emissions reductions in the years ahead.”

The collaboration between EcoCeres and Viva Energy will help lay the foundation for a more mature SAF ecosystem in Australia by demonstrating how existing terminal infrastructure can be used for SAF storage, blending and distribution, while providing airlines with access to certified waste‑based SAF without requiring changes to aircraft or airport refueling infrastructure, and creating a platform for future initiatives such as book‑and‑claim systems and broader regional supply chains for low‑carbon liquid fuels.
