EcoCeres supports AstraZeneca’s Journey to Net Zero with its First HVO Application in China’s Pharmaceutical Sector
EcoCeres has announced a partnership to supply hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) to AstraZeneca for use at its medicines manufacturing facility in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, China
Hong Kong – 24 September 2026 – EcoCeres, a global leader in the innovation and commercialization of renewable fuels and green molecules, has announced a partnership to supply hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) to AstraZeneca for use at its medicines manufacturing facility in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, China. The renewable fuel, verified by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC), is produced from used cooking oil and will support backup power generation at the site. Using this fuel can cut lifecycle greenhouse-gas emissions by up to 90% compared with conventional diesel.
By replacing conventional fossil-based diesel in AstraZeneca’s backup generator system, EcoCeres HVO supports the site’s decarbonization while maintaining the reliability required for critical medicines manufacturing activities. The collaboration demonstrates how certified renewable fuels can provide a practical decarbonization solution for industrial operations.
